Europe’s payments landscape is evolving, with the digital euro, stablecoins, tokenised deposits and Wero signalling a shift towards a more resilient, competitive and strategically autonomous payments ecosystem. In collaboration with Mambu, The Payments Association explored what these developments mean for banks, fintechs and payment providers, and how the industry can prepare for the next generation of European payments.
The discussion examined whether emerging payment models will compete or coexist, the infrastructure needed to support them, and how organisations can build flexible systems that adapt to continued change. It also explored the capabilities and investment priorities that will shape the future of European payments over the next five years.
