The results of Project Retail’s survey to retailers highlight that 80% of retailer respondents do not feel that their voice is heard when new payments regulation is proposed. The survey also highlighted that the key payment areas of interest for retailers include alternative payment methods, mobile payments, and gift card services. The survey highlighted retailer response on the speed and interest in adopting new payments innovation, how they prefer to be educated on payments innovation, their thoughts regarding representation in payments regulation, among other questions. The results of this survey will be used to shape the Payments Association’s approach on how the payments industry can better provide for merchants and to drive faster adoption of payments innovation by retailers.
