Anila Haleem

Anila Haleem joined the NatWest Group in January 2025 as the Group Sanctions Policy & Upstream Risk Lead within Financial Crime Risk Specialist Function. She is a qualified Barrister at Law and formerly served as Principal Sanctions & Export Controls within the Economic Crime Team at UK Finance, representing over 300 financial institutions. Within her current role, Anila continues to drive public-private sector collaboration in sanctions and proliferation finance, representing the NatWest Group as Deputy Chair of the UK Finance Sanctions Panel.

Founder of the UK Finance Women in Sanctions Forum and co-host of the UK Finance Sanctions School Podcast series, Anila is widely recognised for advancing and bridging the gap in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. Awarded ‘Trailblazer of the Year’ at the ICA Compliance Awards Europe 2023, Anila’s collaborative approach continues to inspire and advance the financial crime risk and compliance community.
