Akira Nozaki

NOZAKI Akira has served as Minister for Financial Affairs at the Embassy of Japan
in the United Kingdom since July 2025. He began his career at Japan’s Financial
Services Agency (FSA), the Government of Japan in 2000, where he has held a wide
range of senior positions over the past two decades.

From 2011, he served at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and
Development (OECD) in Paris as a Senior Policy Analyst. As part of the Secretariat
of the OECD Corporate Governance Committee, he initiated the Corporate
Governance Factbook project and played a key role in the 2015 revision of the
G20/OECD Principles of Corporate Governance.

Upon his return to the FSA in 2015, he served as Director in various strategic
department. His responsibility included overseeing organizational strategy and
human resources policy, regulating capital markets, enforcing disclosure
requirements, and promoting innovation in financial services through the adoption
of emerging technologies.

From 2021, he was appointed Counselor at both the Cabinet Secretariat and the
newly established Digital Agency, where he acted as Secretariat for the AI and
Web3.0 Study Group, advising on national policy related to digital transformation
and emerging technologies.

In 2023, he became Director of the Corporate Accounting and Disclosure Division.
In this role, he led Japan’s corporate governance reforms, designed the framework
for sustainability-related disclosures, and oversaw updates to takeover regulations
and the Japan Stewardship Code.
