The cost-of-living crisis: Project Inclusion speaks to Social Bite

In this video from The Payments Association’s Project Inclusion, Josh Berle, Director, New Business Development, Mastercard, discusses the cost of living crisis with Barbara Haig and Ambreen Malik from Social Bite.

Social Bite is a non-profit organisation that aims to tackle homelessness by offering innovative property developments and reintegrating homeless people into the working world.

Barbara and Ambreen discuss how the cost-of-living crisis affects the communities they work with. They mention that more people are falling into poverty, which includes a broad-age group from pensioners to young people with jobs that cannot now afford necessities like food, rent, fuel and transport. They add that shame associated with poverty is also preventing many people from asking for help. They suggest that there needs to be an overhaul of the social care system and financing policies.
