Advisory Board members of TPA have produced an independent paper setting out how to build commercial parity between card scheme and account-to-account rails that creates better outcomes for consumers and merchants. This has been produced to help HM Treasury’s Vision Engagement Group and the Payments Vision Delivery Committee consider what changes might be required to transform the UK’s payments infrastructure in the years ahead.

The workshop will be led by Riccardo Tordera, Director of Government Affairs and Policy at TPA. The subject matter experts will be Paul Horlock, Chief Payments Officer at Santander UK, John Howells, CEO at Link and Tony Craddock, Director General of TPA.
In this 90-minute workshop you will have a chance to consider the merits of the card system as it compares and contrasts with the account-to-account payment system, review the three-phase approach and new operating model proposed in the paper, and consider the pros and cons.
Those interested in the structure of the payments system in the UK and the role and responsibilities of the various actors in it will have a chance discuss these proposals and make suggestions for how to improve them before the updated paper is submitted to the VEG and PVDC.
By attending you will get a chance to consider some fresh alternatives to the current operating model for payments in the UK and share your perspectives on the merits of the current approach and the new approach proposed by members of the Advisory Board.
