A long time ago, the Financial Conduct Authority finally opened a consultation on new safeguarding rules for payments and e-money firms. Under the proposals, firms will be brought within the FCA’s CASS regime and subject to more prescriptive standards for protecting client funds. With the rule changes to be phased in from next year, this consultation marks the start of a period of significant regulatory reform for the payments sector.
