Kord is hosting an evening of discussion for people who move, safeguard and reconcile money in legal transactions. It takes place on Thursday 5 November 2026 at Eventspace at Salisbury House, 114 London Wall.
Legal transactions are one of the places where payments, regulation and fraud meet most sharply. A single conveyancing completion can involve several firms, a lender and a buyer’s own funds, all moving to a fixed deadline. That makes the sector a target for payment diversion and impersonation fraud. It also puts cashiers, finance teams and compliance officers under pressure to prove where every pound went and why.
The evening is a chance to talk about that openly with peers from legal finance, cashiering, compliance and the wider payments community.
What’s on the agenda
The keynote, from Benny Andrews of Kord, covers three areas:
- fraud risk in legal transactions, and practical ways to reduce exposure
- where AI genuinely helps legal finance, and where caution is still needed
- the wider landscape on client funds and regulation
A panel discussion follows, with perspectives from across the industry. Confirmed panellists include Neil Rose, founder and editor of Legal Futures, and Yazad Bajina of Kord. Further speakers will be announced shortly.
There is open time for questions from the floor, then drinks, canapés and networking until 9 pm.
Why it matters to payments professionals
Much of the work to stop fraud in legal transactions sits with payments: confirmation of payee, account verification, faster settlement and the audit trail behind each transfer. The evening is designed to bring the legal and payments sides into the same room, so that the people who design payment controls can hear directly from the people who rely on them at completion.
