SUMMARY:Project Regulator Navigating the FCAs Consumer Duty: In-person meet up
DESCRIPTION:The FCA’s Consumer Duty rules set higher and clearer standards of consumer protection across financial services and require firms to act to deliver good outcomes for customers. \nThe Project Regulator team has been working to better understand the FCA rules\, in the context of the payments sector\, to assist the wider Payments Association membership in understanding the implications and impact of proposals due to come into force later this year. \nWe are keen to provide a confidential forum for those involved in Consumer Duty implementation in member firms to discuss the practicalities and complexities with peers and member advisors\, to share knowledge and potential solutions. \nTo cater for both those who’d prefer to engage in person and those who prefer remote engagement we have two options led by the following speakers: \nSpeakers \n1. Alison Donnelly\, Project Regulator Lead and Director – fscom\n2. Max Savoie\, Partner – Sidley Austin\n3. Teresa Connors\, Client Director – Payment Matters \nPart one: In-person meet-up: \n• Tuesday 7th March\n• 5pm – 6pm GMT (Followed by PA@TheCity from 6 pm – 9 pm GMT)\n• Balls Brothers Austin Friars\, 10-11 Austin Friars\, London\, EC2N 2HG\n• Limited numbers – first come first served (Closing 2nd March) \nPart two: Virtual Workshop: \n• Monday 13th March\n• 11am – 12 pm GMT\n• Online\n• Limited numbers – first come first served (Closing 9th March) \nAttendance for both parts is on a first come first serve basis. The proposed rules will impact teams across your organisation and we recommend these sessions for those who are looking at the consumer duty as part of their job scope\, or who will be impacted at a service level. This could be those in a payments\, sales\, marketing\, product\, operations\, legal or compliance and those that sit at a C-Suite level.

SUMMARY:What will incentivise retailers and consumers to switch to open banking?
DESCRIPTION:A recent Forbes article stated that in the next 3-5 years\, 76% of global banks predict that usage and customer adoption of open banking applications will increase by 50%. Open banking certainly improves customer experience and offers a decreased risk of fraud and associated costs. Yet uptake among retailers currently remains slower than desired. \nIn this open banking themed webinar\, join us as we investigate what can be done to assist retailers to make the shift across to open banking. How might the current cost of implementation be impacting takeup\, and do retailers really want to give customers more choice at the point of sale\, which could slow down transaction time and create queues? \nFrom the consumer’s point of view\, we will also discuss payer and buyer protection\, and what kind of protection assurances might be needed to incentivise buyers to switch across to open banking\, particularly for higher ticket items\, in preference to the traditional debit card. \nNow\, join The Payments Association’s latest webinar to hear our senior expert speakers discussing the evolution of open banking. \nAs with most things in the industry\, this will be a collaborative exchange of views so please join us to have your say. Plus\, you will have the chance to have your questions answered live. \n  \nAgenda \n14:00 – Welcome remarks \n\nHelen Child\, Founder\, Open Banking Excellence\n\n14:05 – Fireside Chat: Addressing the elephant in the room: Payer and buyer protection \nExamining the value of open banking payments for the retail industry and identifying the outstanding challenges are that the industry needs to address. \n\nJan van Vonno\, Head of Industry Strategy\, Tink\nHelen Child\, Founder\, Open Banking Excellence\n\n14:20 – Panel Discussion with Live Q&A \n\nHelen Child\, Founder\, Open Banking Excellence (moderator)\nStephen Wright\, Head of Regulation & Standards\, Open Banking\, NatWest Group\nPeter Harmston\, Partner\, Head of Payments Consulting\, KPMG\nJudith Crawford\, Director of Policy and Operations\, Electric Money Association (EMA)\n\n15:00 – Event Ends \n  \n
