DESCRIPTION:Event overview \n\nDate: Tuesday 15th September\nTime: 11:00 – 12:00 BST\nLocation: Online (Zoom — joining details will be shared with registered attendees)\n\nHM Treasury has launched a consultation on Modernising Payment Services Regulation\, seeking views on how the UK’s regulatory framework for payment services should evolve to reflect changes in technology\, business models and the wider payments landscape. \nThe consultation considers how the UK can maintain a regulatory framework that supports innovation and competition while ensuring appropriate levels of consumer protection\, market integrity and financial stability. \nThe consultation covers: \n\nHow the UK’s payment services regulatory framework can be modernised and made more effective.\nThe regulatory treatment of emerging payment technologies and business models.\nHow regulation can support innovation while maintaining appropriate consumer protections.\nOpportunities to improve clarity\, consistency and proportionality across the regulatory framework.\nHow the UK can ensure its payments regulation remains fit for purpose as the industry continues to evolve.\n\nThe consultation is an important opportunity to shape the future of payment services regulation in the UK and ensure that the regulatory framework reflects the realities and opportunities of a rapidly changing payments ecosystem. \nThe consultation closes on 6th October. \nWhy attend \nThis session for members of The Payments Association will provide a collaborative space to share views\, test ideas and contribute directly to the drafting of our formal response to HM Treasury’s consultation. \nThis is a practical\, discussion-led workshop designed to gather real member insight rather than presentations or briefings. We would appreciate as many members attending as possible to ensure our response is comprehensive and representative of the views of our membership. This is a broad consultation and the results will have an impact on many of our members\, so we suggest involvement in this consultation for all members.
