If you would like to attend in person\, please email: natasha.healy@thepaymentsassociation.org. \n  \n\nThe Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has launched a consultation on a targeted package of changes to the Consumer Duty rules and associated non-Handbook guidance. The proposed amendments are intended to provide greater clarity on the scope and application of the Duty\, while supporting a more proportionate approach to compliance. \nThe consultation seeks feedback on proposals to: \n\nRemove business involving non-UK customers from the scope of the Consumer Duty.\nClarify where the Consumer Duty applies and where it does not.\nProvide greater certainty on how firms can rely on one another within distribution chains and apply the Duty proportionately.\nExplain how the Consumer Duty interacts with existing product governance requirements.\n\nOverall\, the proposals aim to reduce unnecessary cost and complexity for firms while maintaining strong protections for UK retail customers. \n\n\nThis consultation closes on 18 September 2026.\n\nWhy attend\n\nThis 60-minute online session for members of The Payments Association will provide a collaborative space to share views\, test ideas\, and contribute directly to the drafting of our formal response to the consultation.\n\nThis is a practical\, discussion-led workshop designed to gather real member insight rather than presentations or briefings. We would appreciate as many members attending as possible to ensure our response is comprehensive and representative of the views of our membership.
